How To Turn Off Power Safe Mode

The power safe mode is a Windows option that saves energy costs, and if you use a Laptop, you might extend its battery life. The power safe mode automatically turns on when your computer is being idle for a designated amount of time. Windows got power options, so you can set the time after your own needs. The power safe mode is perfect for businesses and organizations that got many computers running, it will save them energy costs and also extend the lifetime of their computers in some degree. But for a normal home computer user, the energy cost you can save is almost unnoticeable.

To avoid an interruption of a program that is running, you can disable the power safe mode. Sometimes, when your computer goes to sleep, a program can stop working and if you didn’t save the work you were doing, it will be lost. Rare computer problems such as your computer can’t go back to normal mode and you have to restart your computer can also occur if you turn on power safe mode. My conclusion is that you don’t need power safe mode if you run a home desktop computer, but for a Laptop it’s a good idea to keep it on.

Switch Off Power Safe Mode

Turn Off Windows Power Safe Mode:

1. Click the Start button down in the left corner of your screen, and write “Power” in the search box. Select “Choose a power plan” and then click on the “Change when computer sleeps” link in the left sidebar.

2. You now got two options. You can choose how long you want it to take before your display turns off, choose at least 30 minutes, so you don’t have to turn on your screen all the time. Then set the ” Put the computer to sleep” option to: Never. Save changes and you have turned off the power safe mode.

If you think you need the power safe mode but want to change the settings, just select the “Power saver” box in the Power options menu and click on the Change plan settings. You can now choose which settings you want. The recommended settings are the Balanced options and if you want to use the power safe mode, use this option unless you must have other settings.

I guess you have heard about the environmental concerns around the world lately, and they claim that if every home computer user use the power safe mode, it will help to minimize their impact on the environment. I don’t know if that’s true, but if you want to say to other’s that you are doing something for the environment, you can always keep the power safe mode on.

If you like to save some bucks, you should invest in new computer parts and use hard disks that doesn’t use so much energy, but to be honest, we are talking peanuts when it comes to saving money here and if the power safe mode bothers you, turn it off. I hope you like my guide, and if you do, please share it with your friends.
