What Is A Keylogger?

A keylogger is a software that capture and records keyboard keystrokes, logging screenshots and capture things that has been copied to the clipboard. All keyloggers are not Trojans or malware that’s harmful to your computer. Some keylogger programs can be really useful, such as password managers and screen capture programs. Keyloggers can also be used by companies to monitor their employee’s network usage without their consent.

People with malicious intent can use keyloggers to capture passwords and banking details, so it’s important that you never access important personal accounts on public computers if you’re not totally sure that they are free from keyloggers and and viruses. The best way to protect your accounts is to use common sense and never expose your passwords for the wrong eyes or let them fall in the wrong hands.

How To Detect And Remove Keyloggers!

1. Right click on the taskbar and go to the “Task Manager”. Click on the “Processes” tab and a list of all running programs will appear. If you see any suspicious programs or obvious keyloggers, write down the program information and close the “Task Manager”.

2. Click on “Start” and go the “Control Panel”. Click on the Uninstall a program under the “Programs” link and locate the suspicious keylogger program and select it and press the Uninstall button.

3. Go To “Computer” and select the (C:\) drive. Type in the name of the keylogger program in the search bar, located in the upper right corner. Delete all the files that resemble the same name as the keylogger program from the hard drive and the program folders. Restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

4. When your computer is up and running again, click on “Start” and type in “regedit” in the search bar. Click on the “regedit” icon and a window with all the registry entries on your computer will appear. Select the registry entries associated with the keylogger program and delete them. Before you delete any registry entry, you must backup the whole registry directory so you can restore it if something goes wrong. When you are finished cleaning your registry, restart your computer.

5. When your computer is running again, recheck the “Task Manager”, the hard drives and the registry folders to ensure that the keylogger program is completely removed from your computer.
